c25k week one day two

day two has gone well - lucky it's summer and we're having some nice mild mornings. Have decided to do my weekday runs before work, which means getting out of the house at 5.30am. The sun is up by that time at the moment, so it's light and quite peaceful out.

I'm still not put off this running thing!

c25k week one day one

It was a nice Sunday morning - not too difficult to get out of bed before 8am and go out for the first day of the c25k.

Ok, 60 seconds of running is a LONG time. It was killing me after 30 seconds or so...and there was 8 runs. Was glad for all the walking though.

Am a bit tired now, my legs are feeling like they've been used for the first time in forever. But I quite enjoyed it, it was hard, but structured enough that I didn't finish the walk/run thinking I'd never ever do that again. So that's a bonus.

Geek starts running

It's 2010 and I'm ready for a change. I realised I'm close to needing to by new clothes since I'm not really fitting my current workwear, and I don't want to be a size 16 (NZ). I'm not tall enough to be a size 16. A few weeks back, I started watching what I eat again. It's not a diet - I'm using weight watchers online to help make good choices and to figure out proper portions.

I decided I need to document this years journey, for my own sanity, and so I don't bore my significant others, co-workers and friends by going on and on about it.

I've been eating well for a few weeks, and have lost that initial couple of kgs - when I'm up at 70kg ish, it isn't too hard for me to start losing without to much effort. It's when I get to 68kg it takes a bit of work.

I decided this week that to go along with my healthy eating, I'm going to try to add some exercise and make this a full on lifestyle change.

So I've downloaded some podcasts and tomorrow morning, Sunday the 17th January I'm going to start the Couch to 5km running program from www.c25k.com . I'm not expecting it to be easy since I haven't gone "running" since highschool, except for a little playing indoor netball at uni, then during my year of going to the gym in 2004.

I've chosen Iestyn Lloyd's podcast from http://web.me.com/iestynx/Couch_to_5K/Podcast/Podcast.html, and I'm adding my own music using Audacity.

18. All the way...a decade of song - Celine Dion

No.

Really, do I have to?

My blog. My Rules. my ears might start bleeding. No one wants bleeding ears.

What was I thinking when I paid money for this?

Obviously I wasn't.

skippable song - all of them?

guilty pleasure - It's all coming back to back to me but I'll listen to the Meatloaf version instead

17. All the pain money can buy - Fastball

I don't know if it's a reflection of the album, but I'd complete forgotten that this album, the band and the songs existed. Yes, more late '90s generic rock?pop?
But I'm enjoying it, you can say maybe I'm stuck in the 90s (and yay, plaid is back. check out my new converse shoes...http://tinyurl.com/cla7lj) but it isn't a bad cd to listen to on a Friday night.

Don't know much about the band Fastball, sounds like they have 2 different singers, I shall look them up on wikipedia. Well, apparently this album made Platinum sales within 6 months of release and stayed in the top 200 for a year. The follow up didn't do so well. But looks like they are still around, and will be releasing a new album in 2009. Maybe I'll check it out. 10 years after "all the pain money can buy" it still stacks up as a reasonably listenable disc, so I'll give them a chance this year.

favourite song - the way (it was my favourite back in whatever year it was on the radio) and out of my head

skippable song - sooner or later - just yuck. fast forward please.

Back....

I took a break. Bought a new ipod - the 120GB, probably the last 'classic' ipod I'll ever purchase. That makes 7 ipods in total. Sold one (my 3g 15gb, and I regret the parting) and broke one (first gen nano)...
bought more music too. But spent the past few months listening and discovering the genius of the New Pornographers, Immaculate Machine and Neko Case.
But there are still too many albums that I've never listened to, so here I am, back at the blog, and churning my way through the "A" section. And there is still a long way to go...
